Catching up

I have a few projects off my design wall and ready to take home as tops that need layering, quilting and binding.

My alien squares are put together.  A cute kids' quilt.

And my next project is also a top ready to send home to myself.

Played with a pinwheel block that I saw on a video from Missouri Star quilts.  Fun and simple.

My latest creation on the design wall waiting to have the blocks joined into a top and borders added. Different for me.  This was inspired by a pattern and kit from Cozy Quilt Shop in California.

A windmill quilt using some Aunt Gracie fabrics - inspired by a pattern from Auntie Lena fabrics in Washington State.

I did a demo at quilting on the method I use for making pillowcases so these are finished from that dem.

My current project is to finish up these purple blocks from a block swap from unknown number of years ago.  Am added a border to each because swap blocks are known for being not accurate in size so this eliminates the problem.

Lots of projects in various stages but hope to get one off the design wall and the purple blocks up on the wall while I am in the process of cutting for another quilt project that I have been wanting to do ever since I saw Bonnie's version.  Wait for it....

Ooops, meant to post this yesterday to end the year!

This is my year end post for 2013 but didn't get it done yesterday.  Oh well.

First project to show you.  I made up a kit for a tortilla warmer that has been living in my sewing room for over a year.  We had tacos one night at a friend's house and she was using one and the tortillas were warm and soft in the warmer so now, mine is done and tacos will be on the menu soon!

I have been playing with half square triangles since I finished my 50 Shades of Gray quilt and couldn't decide on a layout.  Kept making more hst's using my white fabric that I bought from the Otter Coop about 8 years ago and combining with some of the new modern fabrics that have made it into my fabric stash.

And then I worked on something new, a kit from Connecting Threads that was a really good price so how could I not buy it?  I think it will make a great Quilt of Valour?

And then I read a blog that showed how to make this cute little fabric box.  Had to try it!

When I played with my 'alien' strips this summer, I had some leftover so brought them with me and to my surprise, had a charm pack here to match so made these blocks for a baby quilt to donate when I get home.

And lastly, am working on a windmill block with some Aunt Gracie's.

Thus ended 2013 and today, nothing got done in the sewing room BUT my house is undecked and all is packed away and vacuuming done, along with some dusting.  All is clean and bright and ready for the New Year.  A great way to begin 2014.  Happy New Year to everyone.  I hope you have a happy, healthy and prosperous year.
