I managed to finish two tops this week.  Both are Villa Rosa patterns, which I am loving.  Simple cutting and piecing and easy to follow directions.

This one was made using fat quarters plus some grey yardage.

I had some 10" squares of batiks but one set wasn't enough to make a decent size quilt so I cut up some of my batiks on hand and added to the stack.  This is the result.

My friend Elaine was here this weekend and she gave me a lesson this morning on making a braided scarf using Sashay yarn.  I demonstrated the technique at quilting today and showed them the steps and finished mine during coffee time.

A good week!

My Bricks, Cobblestones and Pebbles mystery quilt that I worked on for the last few weeks through a group on Facebook.  Ready for layering, quilting and binding.  The scraps in my containers might be slightly reduced... maybe.

My Downton Abbey mystery is put together.  The mystery started at the beginning of season 5 and every week I have faithfully made my blocks and stayed on track with each step. Am seriously considering getting it quilted by a local long arm quilter here before I head home so that it is completed and I could hang it in our quilt show here at SVE.

I finished a UFO.  This is a table topper that I had brought to Arizona from home, all cut and ready to go but the instructions weren't in the pattern envelope and I was stuck.  However, after a plea at my quilting group here, turns out that someone had the pattern and let me borrow the instructions and I made an effort to get this finished.

I am in a monthly mug rug swap and this arrived in the mail for me on Saturday!  Love the machine embroidery and the sentiment is perfect.

These are three mug rugs that I made and one is on the way to my swap partner, one will be swapped in our local quilting group next month and the third will be a thank you gift to someone.   Now it is time to clean up my sewing room that is a total mess!!!

A simple batik quilt made from fat quarters.  Might be a new favourite pattern for me using fats.

First of February 2015

January ended with rain... puddles in our back yard!  But rain means sewing weather!! It was sad to miss league tennis play but I managed to clean my sewing room and get a few things accomplished.

I worked on my colourful quilt that uses hexagons.  Waiting for the borders to be added and then it will head home with me in April for quilting and binding.

My Downton Abbey mystery is moving along.  A slight delay while I waited for more fabric to arrives.  I was working with a bundle of fat quarters that I had purchased last fall but then realized that I needed to use more of the required fabrics to create some unity in the design.  Blocks on design wall in no particular order and next set sitting on the ironing board.  The next clue is released today so back to cutting and sewing.

And a truly scrappy mystery that I found on Facebook.  Bricks, Cobblestones and Pebbles.  I am up to date and homework blocks are ready to be added when I find out on Monday how we are using them.

I am using all scraps from my containers of leftovers.

And this morning, something never seen before in Mesa/Phoenix.  FOG... would be normal at home but not here... strange weather.  Today is Superbowl and they are talking about the Seahawks fans bringing their Seattle weather with them to our Valley of the Sun!
But sun is trying to break through and so today should be perfect for getting back to the tennis courts and spending time in my sewing room later while the Superbowl is on tv.
