This is a red, brown and beige quilt made using the X block ruler and strip sets. It will be a Quilt of Valour donation.
After I made my 50 Shades of Gray quilt last summer, I had some hst's leftover and that was start of another project using the same variety of fabrics and colours.
I demonstrated the use of the X block ruler to my winter quilting group, the Sunland Stitchers and this was one that I made from 9 patches.
That finishes up my winter projects. All are quilted and bound! Yippee.
Today, while watching season 1 of Mr. Selfridge, I practised making a zippy bag. The modern guild I belong to is having a swap with the Victoria guild and so I needed to make a bag to get the feel for sizes, quilting, inserting the zipper etc.

Mid May, rolling along with more finishes
I have finished a few projects recently. This first one is a Thangles block of the month for the local quilt shop, Hamels and they will be happy to have it to show the finished quilt to their customers.
These last two quilts were made from blocks that were swapped with quilting friends via the internet. Am sure that they were from Quilter's Funtalk group but I didn't seem to have many names with the blocks that I recognized. The blocks in both quilts have to be over 10 years old - they are from way back when purple was the 'in' colour!
This next quilt is one that I started three years ago. I sold a quilt made from quarter square triangles at our last quilt show and it was a fun project so I started making blocks using the same technique for Quilts of Valour. The blocks were so busy looking that I saw a quilt that used the bar or strip of fabric and that seemed to calm the quilt down a little, keeping your eye from jumping like crazy all over the place!

I love finishing a quilt.
One more project is completed. This is called Touchstone and is by Cozy Quilt designs. It was a chance to try something out of my comfort zone. Binding done. Added to my pile of finished projects and ready for display at our local quilt show in June.

And best of all, we had some heat and warmth the last few days. We were able to play tennis but the sun also showed me that I should take a break from quilting and clean some windows!
